LT1 police package questions

I appreciate all the talk about the interceptor stuff. But what I'm actually looking for is the internal specs...what is the hp/tq specs? compression ratio? anything like that to help me understand what I'm getting.
I HAVE a 1992 Buick Roadmaster LT1. IT's TBI not TPI. I'm planning on getting the 1995 engine because it has the TPI, and if I understand right, better flowing heads. all around more power to start off with. Just trying to find out the facts.
thanks for the information about the police package though...good info!!!!

Here is a fast police F-body.http://www.gmhightechperformance.com...ure/index.html
Also explains the differences between the factory and the B4C. It must be fun as hell to go to work and drive that all day or night.

Yes due to the increased amount of braking etc. etc. that occurs in high speed chases and during most of a normal 8 - 12hr shift going to calls etc. etc., most of the differences you'l see are in the brake set up, suspension and wheels. Computer tuning is minimal for things such as speed/rev limiters tuned out, but the hp/tq/specs/etc./etc. of the engines are factory spec engines.

also the hoses and belts were all severe duty....the same used on taxi packages. That is the only thing really different...Ive seen a few police LT1's in both caprice and camaros and if i remember right the hoses were green high temp goodyear hoses.

From the 4th Gen FAQ:
http://www.ws6.com/faq/4_1.htm#ch4_1i
If you look carefully at the list, the B4C package was identical to a Z28, without the badges . The 3.23 gears with the M6 were unique to the 93's.

They are all right, Shoebox has said it best though. A quick run down of why the Police package cars are so much faster... In breakdown format is- They aren't.
Ford Crown Victorias are labeled "Interceptor" indeed. Still, they are nothing special as far as performance goes... In fact if you ever drive one you'd probably describe the performance as "lackluster". Everyone wants to talk about the tune being so much better and stuff... If it was so great the local police department (the chief) wouldn't buy a Diablo chip. BTW, does anyone want a Diablo chip that will fit around a 2000 or so Crown Vic? lol
The cooling system, alt., and suspension on the CV's are built to "service" specs. As someone here stated is the same stuff that comes on any given Taxi. lol
I am no a B4C guy, I never owned one or have even been in one... So I really can't answer any further questions on that. However, even if I had been more well versed it seems that these gentlemen probably have covered it all. The myth of the Camaro police package with 350 horses is just that...
Just out of curiosity though guys, do the B4C's come equipped with both types or rearends? 273 or 323's? Or are they all one ratio?

But it is TBI....I've heard some call it the "baby LT1" because it has different heads which tune it down from the standard corvette engine.
I don't know. I haven't had the time to start ripping it out of the car yet. But it doesn't matter, because I'm going to get the 1995 LT1. Because regardless if it's a not an LT1, or the older Buick LT1 producing 180hp and 300ft-lbs, it is still not as sweet of a stock set up as the 1995 package. So I'll be selling the 'other' engine along with the brand new 4L60 tranny too! I'm going to be matching it up to a T5 which I already have.
Thanks for the input.

The "Baby LT1" is the L99. It wasn't used until 1994 in the Buicks, nor was the LT1. What does it say on the air filter box? If it says "5.7L" it is not a "Baby LT1" because the L99 was only 4.3L. GM made many 5.7L engines and they were not all LT1's. Even the LT1 in the Buicks is not the same as the Corvette/F-Body LT1. It has iron heads and a milder cam. ALL L99's and LT1's are MPI (multi-port injection). There was never an L99 or an LT1 that had TBI.

If they are still ordered today like they were a few years ago, the police cars could be ordered with either "city" or "highway" gearing. It depended on weather the vehicles were going to be used in a municipality (city) or out on county roads and interstates.
