Talking LT1 R&R engine guide

Anyone know of a good site or has info that shows how to R&R an LT1 in and f-body from the top? I would go through the bottom but dont have a lift. Thanks Kyle

You don't need a lift. You must have an engine hoist to pull it out the top, right? The same hoist can be used to lift the car up to take it out the bottom. I took mine out the bottom with nothing more than a floor jack and some creativity.

I admit to being a little nervous about it, but I used some scrap wood as an extension to get enough lift from my floor jack to raise the front of the car 3 feet off the ground. I followed along with jack stands as the car was being raised. The stands had to be on top of my ramps to be high enough. I carefully jacked under the structural member running under the radiator (with the k-member unbolted, so as not to have the weight of the engine on the front end). All this was done slowly with constant visual checks for problems.

When I started, I had driven the car up on my ramps. With the k-member and shock tower bolts out, I jacked under the member to be able to remove the ramps under the wheels. After placing jack stands on the body behind the front wheels, I could lower the engine and k-member to the ground. I then proceeded to raise the body up as previously mentioned. The engine and k-member assy stayed on the ground as the body went up enough to roll the assy (with wheels on it) out from under. (you will need a dolly, roller skate , etc. under the tranny-or since you are not using the floor jack now, you can use it under the tranny).
