I use to run a 468 big block in a 69 Camaro with a M22 behind it. The motor was putting out close to 600hp. Went through some clutch disc but the tranny held up fine.

No body is saying that it is not a strong and adequate transmission. But the logistics required to make it work with the LT1 are ridiculous.
