you will need a plug for the cam gear that drives the pump.

Theres a freeze plug that blocks the hole in the pump, and on some of them youll need to grind your stock housing some to make the electric fit.

Thanks for the info guys. Well I have the old pump out now but can't get the old impeller off. Do I need to take it to a shop and get it pressed out or is there a trick to it?

I knocked mine out with a hammer and a punch.

It's also a good idea to install a high quality relay kit.

I agree with the relay kit..you need one, I remember there use to be a guy who would sell them with a warning light and buzzer in-case the water pump gave out. Don't know if they still sell these.

Ok well I got it all back together. I have a relay and a fuse in line to protect the pump. I got all the wiring done and the pump runs. I ran into a problem when filling back up the system though. There is a small hole on the very bottom of the pump housing and water runs straight through it. I welded a plate over the pinion opening of the old pump but how do I fix this one. I was thinking of some permatex and a small screw?

Sounds like you installed the freeze plug in the back. It is supposed to go in from the front (inside of the water pump) and block off the weep hole.

Well when I got the impeller pressed out it cracked the case so I had to weld a plate on the back. Didn't realize that I was going to need the plug too. Thanks for the info.
