my 94 z28 will fire for a second on startup, briefly idles(1 second), and shuts off.. im leaning toward bad fuel pump, but im not sure. the battery went dead from turning it, but when jumped it stayed running without missing until i shut it off. i tried to fire it back up and it would do the same thing it was doing. what is going on? thanks

sounds exactly like mine.
Its a vats problem. Vechile anti theft system (why your lights on)
You can bypass it with a $30 module on ebay. Comes with easy diagram for installing. It installs on your PCM.
I installed it and she fire right up.
.....but before that it would turn over, start, then run for about 1 sec, then stall out. I could repeat that over and over till the battery was dead.
It could be the pass key problem to, but thats a bunch of work trying to solve the problem.
If the Vats dont work, do a search on bypassing the module in the right side of the glove box (when you pull the glove box out). Look up on shoebox's website. He has a very easy diagram. You just take 2 wires and jump through it.
I had to do that after I bought that module from ebay (about a year after) then it worked fine.
its really hard to diagnos these stupid no start problems, it was a nightmare with my dash all riped apart trying to find the problem. I wish you luck!
