LT1's place in history and future

I'm just kinda curious to how the lt1 was when the ls1 wasn't around yet, it had to own the street, didn't it? and at what point did they start getting modded? I am 24 and was to young to really remember when the lt1's were on the lots. also since I've been keeping up with the lt1 for the past couple of years it seems to me that it has been rediscovered and people started to realize that you don't have to have a ls1 to have a great car. I know how great the ls's are but it gets old with all the ******* the lt gets. I don't think the lt1 can be beat when it comes to hp/dollar spent.

They did really well, it was cool to see people building them up much more back then. But honestly now you have better choices when it comes to heads, cams and after market computers. They did run the streets for a while, even when the LS1s came out you gotta realize there were 10/11 low 12 second LT1s out there. Some of my friends who own LS1s now and had an LT1s thought the LS1s were nothing when they came out but around 00 or so, they started getting consistent and the debate was over.
