I'm running one of the Comp XFI series LT cams and really like it (very broad power band). There are several XFI cam options available, mild to bad-a$$. Check-out the cam specs at this link.

I could give advice if he was more specific in his question.

Get the LT4's ported with bigger valves, and run a good 'ole Isky HR grind (some of the uninformed will call it 'old school' outdated lobes) but they make power and the valvetrain lived to tell about it afterwards. Nice idle, vacuum, 'decent' economy, and well over 400rwhp in a 383.

I will be running a crane 227 with my LT4 heads. Should drive very close to stock but with quite a bit more power.

i thought the ISKY company died or something i havent heard anything about them in a while...lol but if i got my heads ported does that mean i'd have to get my intake ported to match as well? (prolly a stupid question sorry)

do not purchase a cam for the way it idles, what do you want from the car, what do you plan to do with it? emmisions? daily driver? hmm i think i asked this already

no you do not NEED to port the intake, but its not expensive and you would be leaving some power on the table

We beat around cam only LT1 suggestions all day, the LT4 isn't that much different plus it'll do well if he wants to have them ported later. I have a 233/239 cam that was from a company formerly known as Combination Motorsports. My car isn't a daily driver but I've been know to drive it to work 3 and sometimes 4 times a week. I think my cam is still available. Yo can look up www.cmotorsports.com and I think it redirects to the current ownership of the company. Also. the highly esteemed cc306 or gm 847 cams are popular. The xfi grinds aren't that new anymore but they don't have a huge following here, but the xfi 280 would prolly fit the bill of what your looking for. However they do seem to perform fairly well from some of the posts that I've seen. You said it was a weekend warrior so the cams I've sent your way are a bit on the aggressive side but not crazy wild, especially with good tuning which will be more accountable for your driveability than the cam size. I hope this has been a bit more helpful without being confusing.

I like that set-up, but would like the heads ported with just a little bit more cam. And I do mean "little bit".

Actually a very good question.....

Depends - is it the kit with the original (no longer manufactured) GM OEM LT4 intake, or the kit with the Edelbrock LT4? The GM LT4 is little more than a direct copy of the LT1 intake, with a little extra metal at the top of each runner so they can be ported to match the taller LT4 head ports. Not sure why the factory didn't finish the job. So the GM intake needs extensive work to support a well-ported set of LT4 heads.
