LT4 valve spring swap - accessories
I plan on swapping in LT4 valve springs. What else do I have to get and what is optional? Keepers, retainers, spring seats, shims, valve seals? I'm just replacing the stock springs on a car w/ stock cam and roller rockers.
I'm ordering tomorrow morning and would like to know what I have to order.
thanks

Re: LT4 valve spring swap - accessories
I noticed your post has been on the board for awhile, but no replies (???). I'm getting ready to replace my 1997 LT1 springs with the LT4s. Here is what I’ve learned, so far….
First, you can reuse the LT1 spring retainers, however, I elected to use the lighter LT4 retainers GM #10212808. They were only $14.95 at Scoggin Dickey (a good Texas Company). Also, I believe the factory LT4’s come with a spacer GM #10212809 installed under the spring. So, I ordered a set of the spacers.
On the premium LT4 valve stem seals, I gave the local GM parts dept #10212810. They told me, “LT4 intake and exhaust valves used different seals," so I ordered 8 of each.
Also, I have been running Crane S/A 1.6 RRs for a few months on the old springs. The LT4 springs should be a good performance up-grade, as I have about 70K miles now. I also plan on replacing the timing chain and gear set with the GM, LT4 roller (I already have the timing chain set).
1997 Silver Z/28 LT1-Auto

Kooks Long-Tubs w/ Off-Road Y-Pipe
Crane 1.6 Roller Rockers, K&N Air Intake,
Hypertech Performance Program,
Aluminum Driveshaft, ZR1 chrome wheels and a few undisclosed
upgrades.
