Lt's and Emissions

Hey all, I'm running a '95 LT1 and I was looking at getting some Hooker longtubes with the O2 sensor bung and and ORY, but was wondering what else might need to be done to get everything in working order. What's the story with removing the air pump and/or EGR? How about the O2 sensor behind the cat? Will they still run okay, will they throw codes? I have a friend who got a new PCM before even running it with the LT's and w/o the EGR, so he couldn't offer advice. Does everyone with longtubes have a redone PCM? Just want to know what I'm getting myself into beforehand. Thanks!

I have my EGR and AIR programed out. I don't think on your car it will throw a code if you keep the AIR pump hooked up. However it will if you just unplug your rear O2's. You can get some sims, but you might as well get a tune for the price and get some HP out of it.

Your 95 is OBD-I.... it doesn't have "after-cat" O2 sensors, so you don't have to worry about them.

Also on the 95, you can remove the entire AIR system, and as long as you keep a good fuse in the power supply circuit to the pump connector, it will not set a code.

OBD-I diagnostic for the EGR valve operation is fairly loose, so you will generally not get a code for no EGR flow.... but it is possible. If you do get it, the EGR could be programmed out. You would also have to either keep the EGR solenoid hooked up, or put a resistor in the plug to simulate the solenoid load, or you will getan EGR solenoid circuit code.

Thanks for the advice, guys. That pretty much answers my questions. I'll make sure to post with how things turn out.
