AS&M Headers... Rust issue...

I have a set of AS&M headers i just got with a bit of rust on the Y pipe, pictures below... would you guys recomend i sand and re apply a rust protecting paint? or just leave them...

I wouldnt try doing it yourself.Either leave it or send them to Jethot to be coated.

Maybe it's my computer, but that pics looks like I have foggles on. Sicne you just got the headers I assume the rust is merely light spots of surface rust. If this is the case, you can either use an aluminum polish like Mothers or you can use 0000 steel wool.

yea, i always wondered why they coated the headers but not the y from the factory
cheaper sure, but doesn't make much sense when the headers are gonna be coated as well
i'll still be getting my rk sport middies soon though

and yea, it does look like surface rust
do what whitey said and just polish it off

yeah it is surface rust, i just want to make sure that in the long run i wont have any gaping holes in my Y pipe... lol

my y-pipe isnt rusted at all...coating still looks pretty good!
