mac installation problems
putting mac headers on my 93 z passenger side went in easy, i cant get driver side in from top or bottom. whats the trick, do i have to raise motor or take steering knuckle loose. if so, how do i get knuckle loose. please help, i'm stuck.

Best to do both. I am not sure how many mounts you have to disconnect but know it needs to go up about 2". The steering knuckle is easily removed but that wasn't the part I did either. I think its just like 1 or 2 bolts on the firewall.

The steering knuckle comes loose with one bolt on top of the shaft and 1 at the steering rack. May be stuck there you will just have to persuade it to come off. And it may be best to take the bolt out of the motor mount and raise it 1-2". Hope that helps.

you shouldn't have to raise the motor or take off that knucle. you do have to remove the oil filter though. it will go in from the bottom. the drivers side header should come as a two piece part you put the larger piece in first then you atatch the second peice. to get the big piece in you will have to work with it a little but it will go on trust me.

We unbolted steering knuckle and the headers (Hooker LT's) went in from the top (pretty sure it was top) in 30 seconds flat. Pass. side took about a minute once we got the car high enough and 1994Transam (Adam) did his magic. Now getting the damn pass. side bolts started was the fun part.

The reason the MAC's have a detached #1 primary is so that you DON'T have to remove the steering shaft (shaft, not the steering knuckle = spindle, right? different part!)
Anyway, it ought to go in, but you don't attach the #1 piece til the rest is in.
