Mad-z tune?

Now that i've done the LT & ORY on my 97, i'm looking into a tune, i'm really leaning torwards Mad-z, other then the benifits of turning my SES light off (yes it finally came on lol), what other benifits will the tune give me, i know i'll need to eleminate the Hypertech, the car seems to run fine, has alot more bottom end power then with the manifold/cats, so is the tune really worth getting, i know the price isn't bad.

Thanks

97 Z-6sp, PS LTs & ORY, no cats, CAI, Airfoil, Magnaflow catback.

I would say the tune is well worth it. He can also adjust the cooling fan on/off temp settings so the engine runs cooler and also do a "premium gas tune" which will add a fair amount of power as well. Check out the FAQ section on his website as it goes over alot of the things he tunes and the results.

With LT headers, I'd say a tune is totally worth it. You should gain several horsepower, and probably 1-2mpg too.

Also, check out Pcmforless.com as well as Bryan just tuned my 383 and did an incredible job. There about the same price, but I liked Pcmforless better. Lastly, if you get a cable you can load it yourself and save the money as the email tune is only $75 and you don't have to ship off your PCM. Lastly, not sure about MadZ28 but Pcmforless offers 6 months of free updates if you send him Datamaster files and Dyno runs so he can really dial in your tune. Good luck and the tune is well worth it.

You could ostensibly use a home computer, but you'd have to set everything up either in the car or just outside of it, and your data cable would have to be long enough to make it to the diagnostic port. Basically if you don't have a laptop, fuhgettaboutit.

Never mind you might stick with the mail tune as I just saw you have a 97 which is an OBDII car and the software is much more expensive. The 95 and earlier (except 93) fbodies are OBDI and are much cheaper to program. You can still monitor your car with the cable and a laptop (hard to get a desktop in your car) with a program but not sure which one for OBDII. Here is a link to the cable:

Cable here:

(fyi you can find these cheaper on ebay or here in the for sale section)
