You shouldn't really need to. Any gunk that's on there will come off with a dry paper towel or a rag. Make sure you blow any dust off of it after though.

a procedure detailed on a Mustang site about doing this (their MAFs are very sensitive) talked about using alcohol and a Q-tip. Thats what I did, just soak the end of the cotton swab and lightly rotate it between your fingers on the MAF wires, being careful not to push at all. Worked great

I don't know how you can't get the carbon, etc... off by using a contact cleaner, since that is what it was designed for. You can also watch it come right off if you spray it, and it eliminates having to "wipe" or "rub" anything off. If you do a search, you will find a large number of people who have touched the contacts and either broke something or messed up the MAF. Stay safe and use a contact cleaner which like I said is approved for cleaning such dvices

I shot mine with some carburator/TB cleaner and haven't had any problems whatsoever.

Sounds good. But I'm just saying, when I took the MAF apart, and took the sensor section over to my work bench and sprayed it with contact cleaner, the dirt didn't go anywhere. It just got wet and dried. Just FYI.
