MAF Question

I just removed my MAF to install my Lingenfelter CAI. My guess is that 40% of the screen was covered with some kind of black crap, it almost felt like foam or something. My question is what is the best way to clean the MAF screen without damaging the MAF itself???

You can separate the sensor from the housing by removing the torx screws. Then you can use some solvent to clean the housing. The screen is normally held in by a snap ring. If needed, you can carefully remove the screen for cleaning.

If the sensor bars have gunk on them, use some electronics cleaner or alcohol and a soft toothbrush or q-tip. DO NOT be rough with the little resistors on the bars. The sensor is expensive if you have to replace it.

Thanks! That did it. I couldn't believe how clogged the screen was, literally 40-50% of the screen was covered. Granted, the car has 160,000 miles on it but still. Getting ready to go try it out!
