large journal. I believe the small journal were the older 327. Then there were the larger journal 327 and I believe the 350 journals were always the large journal. Careful when ordering, I ordered a 4 bolt kit with use of windage tray and they didn't fit the tray.

Re: Main studs.?

Get the set for a 400 SBC and the tray will bolt back on. Call ARP and they will give ya the correct set number and ya can get them from Summett.

1racerdude, I thought I remember you posting that once before, but I couldn't remember for sure. Glad you chimed in!

I'd be skeptical about that number. I bought 234-5601 for a 4- bolt and the windage tray didn't work. You ABSOLUTELY want to keep it.

Re: Main studs.?

I would get the studs for large journal 2 bolt mains, without windage tray. Then, i would buy an aftermarket pan, with a built in windage tray, and other nice features like higher oil capacity. Thats just me though, i have heard the factory windage tray is a pretty crappy design from the local engine builders. I believe there is an issue with that part number that machinist gave....because you i think our trays have an extra bolt holding it down, I am not 100% sure, but when I called my engine builder he said something like that.

I didn't say that's the right one to use, just that's the part number for the application that was asked for

Personally - I do what was stated below - Use the standard main stud kit and use an aftermarket pan with built in tray and scraper.

well it depends on which you get. I went with the Canton 242-T I think it was...around $280 for the pan and $25 or so for the pickup.
