MANELY GUIDEPLATES on LT1 ?????
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...8&autoview=sku Just wondering if anyone has any experience with using these Manley Guideplates on their LT1/LT4 engine's?????.....From what I've seen, this is what Golen Engines is using on their LT1 Headed engines.......With my GM guideplates that have several thousand miles on them, Im not "as of yet" having the "Massive" guideplate slot wear that I've read about here and there on the internet, but rather on just on a couple of the guideplate slots there is a little bit of abnormal wear starting....Any wear is too much for my liking, so real soon, I want to replace them with something better if possible......PS: My rocker geometry is as perfect as can be, as is the rocker side to side centering on the valve stem tip so that is definitely not a contributing factor in the slot wear...........thanks for any and all comments................Joe

The shop that built my engine used Manley guideplates. I could probably dig out the invoice and get the part # if you need it. Engine's been together for 7 years with no problems, and the cam is a mild solid roller.

Yea, that would be great Fred.......thanks.......I wonder if it's a different part number from the Manely 42151's in the link I posted?........If thats the ones, 7 years in your engine is enough for me...........Joe

I got a batch of the unhardened ones, bought them in April of 2006. I JUST bought some new ones (Gmpp), havent put them in yet but they have more of a goldish tint to them and they look like they've been heat treated much better. I tried to cut into them with a small file but wasnt able to, so hopefully they'll work out better

Kinda makes me wonder if I got that batch, when I pulled my heads 1000 miles after I put in the guideplates they already showed some wear.

Mine (GMPP's)had less than 500 miles on them and I trashed them they wereso worn. I did the best I could and took extra time lining up the rockers but they still wore really bad.
