I had some glitter in my 385 rebuild but cleared up after the 500 mile oil change. As Loadre said I would have waited a while longer before tearing down unless you are hearing knocking or see chunks of metal.

Re: Metal in Oil!
-Stock timing chain and gears - no damage there
-no damage on heads, springs, retainers. found today 2 totally fragged valve seals
-machine shop dissassembled block at no cost and said all bearings check out, no damage.
There was at least a full table spoon of metal in the bottom of the oil pan.Took a whole can of degreaser to clean all of it out..however the last oil fiter thant came off the motor had ALOT less metal in it than the first one to come off the motor. I guess I'll have everything cleaned, reassemble it and cross my fingers.
Edit: would the a GM Hot Cam tear up an oil pump drive? teethon it look really worn.

Okay, can somebody confirm glitter vs this.
Oil looks black after sitting, but if I drag my finger across the oil I can see fine grey streaks appear in the oil, like it was a dull grey oil slick.
