midwest torque converters
i've heard a lot of good things about midwest torque converters. i'm considering getting a midwest with a 3200 stall, a shift kit, and a tranny cooler with the $800 i have to spend. anybody know what the midwest web address is? what do you guys think of midwest?

Rather than looking at their website I would suggest calling 800-554-2668 and talking to Dennis. He's the guy that builds the converters.
I just got a 2800 from them, and it rocks!! I like it better than the stock stall. Plus it was only $440, compared to up to $700+ for others. Anyhoo, I could go on raving about this converter forever, but just know that I'm 100% satisfied and I would recommend Midwest to anyone.
Also I did a B&M Transpack. It's very nice, but I had a guy that knows transmissions install it. I think it would be pretty hard for the average person to do. It really doesn't shift much harder than stock, just a whole lot quicker. I know it sounds weird to say that an auto shifts quicker, but once you get it in, you'll know what I mean.

well, there was a guy who was offering to sell me a TCI torque conveter with a transgo shift kit and a tranny cooler for $710 to my door. i was definitely interested in it... but i've heard some bad stuff about the TCI products. i don't know whether or not any of it is true, and this is my first A4, so it's hard for me to make decisions like this without more info...
i have heard good stuff about midwest, and all of you seem to be happy with yours. but the prices you are saying are much lower than what a guy in town paid... he paid $800. it was for the midwest with a 3400 stall, a shift kit, and a tranny cooler. that's what i want, minus the 3400 stall cuz i'm only going to a 3200. i guess placing a phone call to get pricing would be the best alternative. maybe i should just order the torque converter itself from midwest... and get the shift kit and tranny cooler elsewhere?

Yea I didn't buy mine all as a package. Here's the breakdown-
Midwest 2800 stall, 2.5str, 9.5" with 12" lockup section-$440+shipping
B&M Transpak from Jeg's- $48+shipping
B&M Trans cooler from Summit- about $50.
BTW the midwest converter was advertised for $539.

well, from what it looks like to me... i can get a 3200 midwest for about $500 shipped. and if i buy the shift kit that i was looking at ( the transgo on thunderracing.com )... that's another $109.99... and then it's another $55.99 for the B&M tranny cooler from thunderracing. so all it all, it looks to be about $700-$720. basically the same price... just a better product. sounds pretty good to me. if i can hook, i'll knock off a full half second from my ET supposedly. right now, i'm running a 13.7-13.8... if i did manage to knock off a full half second... a 13.2-13.3 on a basically stock motor isn't too bad

lol i'll ask again... if i buy the midwest 3200 with a shift kit... do i just need the tranny cooler or do i need that and the deep tranny pan?
how bad do you think my traction problems will be once i've got this stuff on my car? i have the stock 3.23's in the rear... was considering moving up to 3.73's.
