Mostly likely a burn't spark plug wire, grounding out on to the block, on #5. Raw fuel coming out of the cylinder is burning in the manifold causing it to glow. Look for sparking arcing while the engine is idling in the dark.

well i looked at the car and some how the number 7 cylinder plug wire was off the plug so i put it back on and started the car it still had a miss and a little run on when i went to shut it off do you think maybe just a bad plug now or something more serious. The car was to hot to take the plug out so i am going to do that in the morning

I would bet something happened with that plug wire. Forget the whole clogged cat explaination... thats not your problem. Even if the plug wire doesnt look bad at a glance... take it off and inspect it very carefully for any signs of a cut or burn.

fixed miss and glow but hesatates at first acc. could cam hurt low end

i found that the back plug wires on both sides were not on all the way because of the metal heat sheild but them back on all the way and the miss is gone and glow but ever sence i put this engine in i have a hesitation at first acc. it wont burn the tires by stomping on it but no problems when i power brake it this engine sounds like it has a cam in it but im not sure i bought it off ebay and they never said could a cam be hurting low end

not much info to go by... what mods are done to the rest of the car?

If its a different engine the PCM will need time to get used to it.

The there are really no more mods to the car that i know of i bought it blown up and bought the motor off ebay. Its suppost to have 63k on it and i put all new gaskets in and checked all internals before installing. How long will pcm need to learn i have like 200miles on the car I'm back to having people tell me the cat could be pluged to cut it off and put a peice of straight pipe in but i'm not so sure on that idea in this case

well it should light up the tires without power braking it, but I guess that depends on your gears. when I had the stock 323's, it would light them up without power braking it, all the way thru 1st. halfway thru second, and Im an auto. maybe you have some burnt plug wires.

maybe the plugs are fouled on 7 and 8. Just a thought if they got wet enough and would only fire every few times it would basically coat the plug. For $10 or $12 you should start with a fresh set of good plugs.

a bone stock lt1 car with peg leg gearing and a decent set of tires might have a problem breaking loose from a punch

what would you consiter "peg leg" gearing? My LT1 is stock and I don't need a clutch dump to roast a set of BF Goodwrench shoes.
