more dowel pin ?s

ok my dowel pin broke, i took it with the new dowel pin to the machine shop. my question is when i put the cam sproket on the dowel pin is flush with it. shouldnt it stick out? isnt htat what spins the distributor?

No it should not be flush, It should stick out at least a little over a 1/4 of an inch, when I measured my stock cam the dowel stuck out from the CAM 5/8 of an inch.

Yeah, it has to stick out enough to turn the opti, but it can stick out too far and cause opti problems. I will be carefully measuring that when I do my cam swap.
