Motive Gears...

Are these gears pretty good quality? They are on eBay for around $119 as the starting price and $149 for Buy It Now. I am looking at the 3.73's for my A4. I want a good quality gear that doesn't make noise or have a bad rep for anything. If these gears aren't that good, what's a good brand? Thanks a lot.

I don't have gears yet myself. But i heard that if installed right those are the quietest. But i to my knowledge the strange gears are stronger.

I have Motive 3.73s. They don't whine at all and are as quiet as the factory 2.73s except for a little chatter if I coast the car in between loading and unloading the gears. My mechanic attributes this to the sort of loose 8 thou of backlash he set them at for street use.His race car is set at 4 thou. I'm gonna run 85/140 rear end fluid which should minimize this. I had Strange gears before and they whined a lot. I don't hard launch my car and run street tires.Unless you want to buy GM gears from the dealer Motives when properly installed will be the quietest though perhaps not the hardest.

Where on Ebay do you see them listed? I have yet to see them that low. Thanks!

You may want to avoic these gears. I know that company offers Motive Gears(which are the ones on ebay) and Motive Performance Gears. Most aftermarket places sell the Performance ones. These may not be as strong as Motive Performance.
