2x when driving around my LT1 just cut out - rpms just die as though I've turned it off. When attempting to restart it runs for about 30 seconds, each time you retstart thereafter it runs for shorter amount of time until it will not restart. Next day it may run fine.
After the first time I brought it to a local garage, they found the Service Engine Code for the EGR and replaced it (the light was coming on after running the car for about 1hr - so it seems logical.)
Next day, guess what - stranded on the highway. Since then I changed the gas filter, because it looked very old, maybe even original. I inspected it and ran water through it and it seemed ok.
Since then in about 20 mi around town no problems, but still paranoid to take it on any long trips for fear of being stranded.
I'm thinking this could've been/could be an optispark issue - although I already had the water pump blowout/replacement. about 4-5years ago. Maybe water/oil/antifreeze got into it. Anyone have any ideas?? Want to have some basis before taking it apart - sounds like a real pain.
