Is this to much valve spring?

Is this to much valve spring?
I'm not a valve spring expert so I'm wanting some opinions on the valve springs I'm running. It's a custom grind hyd. cam with the lift being right around .590 on both in and ex, I'm using the Crane 99893 springs, they have worked good for the last few years, but I was wondering if it's to much spring for the cam. Opinions appreciated........

There is no too much spring for the cam, there is too much spring for the lifters!
If you got good lifters, you shouldn't worry sbout it.
BTW, its always better having higher spring pressure, than having less pressure.

Re: Is this to much valve spring?
I just switched from junky (most people swear by them) Comp 977's to the Crane 99893's. They let you run more seat pressure (155 - 160 lb in my case) without excessive peak pressure (a hair over 400 lb in my case). It depends on how you have them set up, but in general, it's the peak pressure that kills lifters, not seat pressure. The 893's don't have alot of peak pressure.

Thanks guys, I'm using comp r's, I must have got a good set, cause they have scene some rpm's. I just installed the springs right out the box, never measured installed height, but I guess I need to do that this time I put the heads together.

Bret, I do have an old set, they have about 300 quarter miles passes on them, they still look good, and haven't had any failyures from them, I'm just worried about the time they have on them, so I was just gonna buy a set of factory lifters to replace them for the new powerplant.
