muffler
#2
I honestly wouldn't just take the muffler off. The sound of having no muffler sounds awesome but it CAN get annoying at some times. A cutout is definitely the way to go. It'd be embarassing to start up the car in the middle of the night and have it wake everyone up, IMO. If you still have the stock piping (2.75") you can just buy a 3" cutout and it'll slip right over the stock pipes. It is definitely not more than $100 to have the cutout shipped to you and installed by your local exhaust shop.

electric cutouts require you to hook a wire up to the battery of your car, and a ground on your car. It's simple to do the wiring yourself. I don't know of any shop that wouldn't rip you off for the wiring part of the electric cutout, cause it's so easy to do yourself.
