Muncie 4 speed in a 4th gen?

I currently have a 97 Camaro RS with a T5 manual transmission. The V6 ate her biscuits and I would like to take this time to swap in an LT1. I can find LT1s with the harnesses and ECUs for a reasonable price, but I am having a hard time finding a T56 6 speed for a good price. Most of the ones I have found are for core exchange only and I don't have a core. If they are being sold as whole units, then they are pretty expensive. I found some rebuilt Muncie 4 speed transmission for a good price and was wandering if I could use one of those instead. Would it bolt to the LT1? Would it bolt up under the car? I dont want to end up paying the same price for mods as it would cost me to just invest in a T56. If not, does anybody have any suggestions for manual substitute for a T56 in a 4th gen?

I've heard of people doing that, but I wasn't sure if it could hold up to the LT1. Would it bolt right up to the LT1? Also, I did a search around my area for a 3rd gen T5 and saw that there was one for sale for either a Camaro or Mustang. Are they the same or is the one for Mustang different?

I know the world class T5 is stronger then the standard T5 and didnt come in all years, if you google it there is more info it, and i think the diff between the mustang and camaro t5's was the input shaft.

and as far as, will it hold up? Go look on the 3rd gen websites, they put alot of power down. I dunno what trannies they are usin tho. and as far as bolting up, well if they can use a lt1 t56, then why couldnt u use a 3rd gen t5? Im not 100% on that tho.

also seen a guy on here selling a t56 for 600$ in missouri.

Even GM wouldn't couple the T5 with the L98 350 V8's. They were only available with the automatic trans. T5 was not considered to be strong enough.

There are heavy duty T5 replacements (e.g. - TKO series).

Thank you for the replies. It gives me another option to check into. I have looked at those TKO transmissions along with the T56 Magnums.

What do you plan to do to the LT1 that would require a T56 Magnum (700 lb-ft)? Stock T56 is fine with a high HP naturally aspirated engine.

I know. I just was saying that I saw them on the same website that I saw the TKO T5 transmissions on. It is definitely way more transmission than I need and way more than I can afford.

For now, I am just looking for a manual tranny that will hold up to a stock LT1. When I get the extra money, I plan to to do some performance mods, but it will always be my daily driver street car. I have been looking at some World Class T5's and I can find those for about the same price as I found the Muncies, so I may go that route unless anyone else has any other recommendations.
