my heads are back from lloyd!!!

lloyd is a very nice guy , i emailed him about porting my lt4's and he flat out told me that altho he would have charged me very little to port them , on my car the improvement would only be a few tenth's and that money would be better spent on other parts of my car to drop my times. When I reach the point tho that I either have money to burn or the heads need to come off im gonna mail those heads off to lloyd .

what are the max flow #'s you could get just out of p&p and a valve job with stock valves? cause im on a bit of a budget, and am just wondering how big the difference is between stock valves and larger ones.... and im talking numbers...

I am currently having a set of iron heads ported by Lloyd and discussed this topic with him. I opted for stock valves backcut for my application, but I am looking for street manners and have a small cam (502). He told me that a set of 2.0 1.56 will generally flow 10-15 cfm more than stock valves depending on the brand, Ferrera being the best. He also said, at higher lifts, a stock valve with the proper backcut can flow about the same.

$1200 would cover porting the heads, Ferrera 2.00/1.56 valves, Comp 987 springs, 10 degree retainers, locks, locators, seals, machining for seals and locators, milling, cleaning and assembly.

Just an observation but for the price he is charging he probably isn't flowing each and every port. I got the impression from an earlier message that he may not even have a flow bench? If that is true he is probaby porting them based on vast experience and the machine shop is flowing just one port. That could be the reason for the variances between you guys but on average they are probably all very close? Just a guess Either way, as has been mentioned, the proof is in how the car runs and his heads seem to do very well so who cares what they flow
FWIW, I just sold a set of LT1 heads. These heads were used on a LT1 Camaro that ran 120 mph N/A. While the flow numbers do not appear as impressive as what you guys are posting, they do perform well. Only one set of ports was flowed and here are the numbers...
Lift Exhaust Intake
.200 60 105
.300 76 192
.400 88 231
.500 93 258
.600 124 270
.700 180 270
As you can see, the numbers aren't as good as the ones being posted here but the heads work good... there is more to a good set of heads than just high flow numbers The exhaust numbers don't look right but that's what they the guy gave me so who knows.
Anyway, just wanted to point out that Llyod isn't using a CNC machine so they will all not be the same but on average they are probably all very close

Just saw this and figured I would add my .02.. my heads are currently with Lloyd and he just sent me the flow numbers..
.1 64/49
.2 134/105
.3 188/147
.4 232/168
.5 262/181
.6 269.8/187.8
total cost to me is 1000.. that was the porting, larger Rev valves, guideplates, 7/16in studs. and double springs..
these will get bumped along by a 230/236 and 1.6 pro-magnums..
His customer service alone was worth it.. can't say enough good things about his rapid responses to questions..
