My LE1 1/4 times ..

Re: My LE1 1/4 times ..
Something is definitely not right. Maybe you just can't drive. Just playing, yeah hit a dyno and see what it does. I'm running le1 heads but with rev 2.0/1.56 valves and a custom Joe cam thats smaller than the le1 cam. Even with being an auto and with just a base tune my car trapped 111.11, then after a better tune(from data logging it and pcmforless) the very next week it went 114 mph. I'm sure my car has some 118+mph traps in it when better weather comes along. See sig for mods/times as a comparision. My time was with a 1.65 60ft.

So 1982z28, So would you say that your heads are closer to the LE1 or LE2 combo? I have been thinking about doing something similiar. I want the LE2 heads but with a small cam like the LE1 or smaller. The one guy on here that had that combo did something to his motor now he is going with a 383. He didn't get a chance to dyno it before it his motor messed up.

Re: My LE1 1/4 times ..
his times look an awful lot like mine, i bet you are running your stock gears?? If you are, i bet that is that main thing holding you back. Stock gears and a high end cam are a terrible combo. Just my $.02. Also, how does your clutch feel, maybe she is slipping a little bit on ya??

Those times do seem a bit slow for what you have done. Have you scaned it for codes?

110 mph is around 360rwhp on an F-body w/o much weight reduction. I wouldn't expect to pick up 50 rwhp on a dyno tune, but hopefully you'll prove me wrong

Just for reference - all full weight vehicles. mine is a lightweight though 3500lbs with me (minus jack and spare though).

I'm talking about 3600+ lbs cars w/o driver (no weight reduction LT1s)
Hell, my Z was 3870 w/driver, but it was a vert and went 114, but it was over 400 rwhp. When I sold it, I opened it up a little and it was more like 440rwhp

It was common knowlege that when the LS1 debuted in the F-body in 1998, the aluminum block shed around 100 lbs off the weight of the car, bringing the Z28 closer to 3300 lbs w/o driver.
That guy probably has audio stuff in his car and extras that weigh it down.

Re: My LE1 1/4 times ..
ya stock 3:42 gears, with 4:10s at like 115 mph is that still 4th gear? i don't want to hi 5th gear in the 1/4.
my dad has a scanner and we're going to log a run here in the next day or two, and i'll post and then maybe that will help out.

Here is the curb weight for my car (3390 according to the site and i got 3340 withou spare and jack). I also had the extra weight of 17" rims and 275/40-17's versus my stock 16" rims and 245/50-16's. Go to bottom of page.

02 SS this link says 3411 lbs. Similar weights.

This site also states 3411 for LS1 Z28

1998 Pontiac Firebird Formula checked in at 3,345 lbs and 2002 Chevy Camaro Z28 is 3,439 lbs

This article says that a 99SS weighs 3439

As you can see, that just because they shed 100lbs off the engine block, they made up for it elsehwere according to these specs. Thanks for telling me I was wrong though Like I stated before, the ls1's trapped the mph and I trapped my mph and were on pace with each other. The ls1's that had 20-30rwhp less than me trapped 2-3mph less than me. If our cars werent similar in weight that wouldnt happen. i am sure vehicle weights differ, but here were a few examples that show LS1's not lighter then LT1's. they are infact very similar despite change in the engine block.
