My new engine is overheating. Help!

My new engine is overheating. Help!
I have about 3000 miles on my new 383 supercharged engine and I installed a 160 thermostat and a csi electric water pump. The temp was normal until recently. When I am in stop and go traffic the temp rises up to the red mark, but when I get on the freeway or at higher speeds it drops slowly until I am at idle or in stop and go traffic then it rises again. At first I thought I had air in the system, so I bleed it, but it did'nt take care of it. Could my water pump be going out after 3000 miles? Could something else cause this? I also changed the thermostat.

3,000 miles ago I assume the weather was cooler. Is it only happening on hot days? How much does the temperature rise? Even a stock motor will get a temperature rise in stop and go traffic.

you have to remember, when you increase your PSI, on your motor, the air heats up... not exactly sure how much, but it is substantial. this is one advantage of a intercooler. and when its already hot outside 90* plus weather, it might be 105* or even more by the time the valve closes.
then its hotter as the air comes out the exhaust (than w/o the supercharger) and then heating up your engine bay more... and now ur outside air is hotter...
lol, its a bad system, but without you moving, you will probably overheat yes...
(granted. none of this is sourced from anywhere I'm just using my imagination of the process, and my limited knowledge of science)

Just went through the same problem, though I was having trouble getting my heater to blow hot heat and it was overheating as well. If you are 100% sure that everything is in working order(thermostat, waterpump, nothing clogging your system) then bleed your system. I know it seems like that wouldn't help any, but air in your heads would cause your problem. I had to bleed my system 8 different times to get all of the air out. So after you think you've bled your system enough, did it 3 more times... hopefully this will solve all your problems, Good luck

You know I've tried bleeding my system the way they say on that website, but I've never been able to run my car with the Radiator cap off. Once the car gets to operating temp, water starts gushing out, till I have to shut the car down. I know this can't be right.
