Re: Mysterious Check Engine Light!! READ...
Check your EGR valve first. It's on the back of the intake plenum. It's held on by two 13mm bolts or nuts, i forget. it has one vacuum line coming out of the top. Remove it and clean it. I an 99% positive this is your problem. Your vacuum line may have jsut come off of it like mine did, and it causes it to go on and off. Mine mainly came on when running it hard, like racing someone on the highway, then turning off into a residential zone and just idling through the 25mph zone. It was pretty random other than that though.

I just bought my scanner (actron CP 9145 super autoscanner) from Amazon.com for $198, paid extra for 2day delivery and got a promotional offer discount of 25 bucks, went to autozone and bought the OBD1 (CP 9127) optional cable for my year of car "1994 z28" came w/ cable and lighter adapter, I would of saved more w/ free delivery from amazon since it came so fast, like 6 days. Not to promote amazon, but that was a pretty good deal on that!.. hope this saves someone some dough..

I would strongly recommend this approach for anyone thinking about doing their own work on their cars. The Actron 9145 does all the OBD-II setups, plus most of the OBD-I cars if you buy the optional, relatively low cost cables.
