need to get old gas out, fuel pump prime?

I'm bout to fire my new motor up and I've got about a 1/4 tank of gas thats 3yrs. old. The intake is still off and I was wondering if i could just run a 12v to the fuel pump prime lead and pump the old gas into a container. It really sucks dropping the tank.

Not sure if a 96 is wired the same but here's a photo of a 95 fuel prime connector from Shoebox's site:

That's exactly what I did. I took off the fuel rails and put the open end of the lines down into an old gas can. Then I jumped the prime connector and let it run until almost all of the old fuel was out. I didn't want to run the pump dry.

From the pic it says its the red wire, pcm is out for tuning so i'll check it out. Is it cool to do this? I was just going to put the fuel lines in a container and pump "most" of the gas out, i know its not good to run the pump dry.

Cool, posted for I had a chance to reply. I figured that would be alot easier than dropping the tank, thanks

I wonder if you could just throw some 109 octane in there... it should mix it out.

A tank that's been sitting unused and partially full for 3 years could be badly rusted. Might be a better idea to drop it and have it cleaned.
