Need help with a vacuum hookup (97)

After going on shoebox's site as well as using the search function and even ebay for some stock LT1 pick's of 96-97's, I cannot seem to figure out if I am right with my connection between these two vacuum hook ups if they indeed are vacuum hook ups. Anyways, lets let the pictures do the talking...below you will see the things circled in red. I basically want to know if they should be hooked up together or not. If not, where should they go?

thank you for your help

you are in the right area, but that line you hooked to is to be left open for vent, the line you are looking for I think is below that line, check the web page again http://shbox.com/1/1996_evap.jpg number 15 is the one you should not hook to, sometimes they are upside down, line 16 is the one you need to hook up.

Yeah, your vacuum switch is upside down and that is a vent and has no connection like the diagram shows.

With the way you have that hooked up, your mode controls for the HVAC system will not work at all. The check valve by the a/c pipes connects to a port above the one that feeds vacuum to the fuel pressure regulator. The vacuum hose for it is bundled in with the wiring harness. Looks like yours might have been broken off. You might have a vacuum leak from it, too.

thanks for the help! so basically unplug the one in the first picture (fix it so its right side up), and then figure out where the other one is supposed to go in the middle second picture.

looks like that is it, my original middle picture shows pretty much this. i will have to check this all out tomorrow!

wow thanks again!
