Need Info and HELP on building 383 stroker!
Some of you may have read my other post, which I said I had spun a rod bearing. I'm meeting with a guy that I was reffered to that now works at the "Mustang Ranch", which is a high performance shop for Fords. The guy that is now doing their machining and engine building is supposed to be a GM master. Anyways, I'm meeting with him this week to discuss cost and everything else.
I want to know what is a good strong 383 shortblock setup that will handle a LE2 head and cam package and be able to rev high(on a budget). Should I get forged or not (planning on running NOS few times at most a year), and what brands for rods, bearings, pistons, crank, oil pump, rings.
Also is there anything speacial that needs to be done to the LT1 oppossed to a GEN 1 SBC block when building a 383 stroker. Reason why I ask is because I read in another post stating that the machine shop that built another member's 383 didn't do certain things that need to be done to LT1's when building them.
Thanks for the help guys!

Do a search there is plenty of info on this. BTW building a high-revving strocker and budget should not be in the same sentence
Check out my sig for parts that I used on my project. Good luck.

Re: Need Info and HELP on building 383 stroker!
I know there are Forged 383 stroker kits available, and if you're going to spray then I would recommend forged, but I've found a lot of them use a 9.5:1 compression piston, and it's my understanding that higher compression is better for the juice and a lot of people seem to like running like 11.5:1 anyway just for added horse power. I believe the brands mostly come down to preference, because while some people claim some work better than others, and sometimes they do. In the end most of them do just the same thing just sometimes you pay for the name. I know Eagle is pretty big name as far as cranks and rods are concerned, I know Cola makes a good crank too.
