need mods- lost to a mustang

iam new to these cars so need some help, i just lost to a 2001 stock mustang cobra with no mufflers or cats. My car is a 94 trans am ramair with flow master exhuast and a shift kit and k&n filter thats it.

i need some mods , no nitrous, i plan on putting a 4.5-6 psi super charger on next year and want to do my mods to help that out. Is there any bolt on's that i cxan get good power from or will i need to get heads or cam. if so what size , how about headers will they help much . I also have a auto trans so would a stall help , it seems like it needs one [ what size is not to big for now].

any help would be great

thanks

headers will give you a nice gain and be complimentary to the blower later as well. Also look into getting a full Cold Air Induction kit instead of just the filter, its worth another 10hp or so.

Are there any good headers i should look into, i have a working ramair air hood on the car now with a big flat k&n filter, it sets like 3" from the thottlebody. Did the thottlebody bypass help any, is it worth doing

any other mods, i should have about 1000 to put in it soon.

thanks

I have SLP shorties. They work fine. Hooker and Jet Hot are the most popular long-tube headers.

You could do gears...that would wake up the car a lot.

Headers:

Longtubes if you need emissions
Mid lengths if you don't
Shorties if you're broke.

Look in the for sale section for them, you'll save a few hundred bucks prolly.

DO a search on headers, questions on them are asked daily.

Be careful with a supercharger. No offense, but you don't seem totally knowledgable on cars. Headers are a pretty simple mod and you don't fully understand them it seems like. You can't really go wrong with headers, but if you mess up on a supercharger you'll be in the rebuild club reeeeeal soon.

Good luck!

whoops forgot about the ram air...theres really not much difference between the T/A ram air and a good CAI as far as performance goes, so your fine there.

Headers and gears would make a world of difference. If you dont have emissions get longtubes. I have Hooker LT's but I hear Jet Hot has there own longtube that ressemble the Hooker and are cheaper. Mac seem to be the most popular shortie header.

Mac's a mid-length header i beleive. It sort of depends on your emissions and how much you got to spend. For shorties i would say go with slp's. For midlength as&m i hear are the best but are pricey, so if you can't get those i would say get the mac's. For long tubes go with jet hot's, or hooker.

I like my Jet-Hot LTs a lot. The throttle body bypass is more than worth doing. I heard it was a nice little free mod, then I did it and gained a MPH in my trap. It really suprised me. Every little bit helps so its worth it.

If you've got the money I would look into FLP long tube headers... I've heard really good things about them (and I'd hope so seeing as there not cheap)

Some gears would be good too... thats on my list soon after my headers.

As for the TB bypass.... go for it... takes like 20min (10min of that getting that damn hose off for me ) but anyways... it's said to add 5-7 rwhp so if it's completely free.. hell thats pretty good. Anything counts right

Yeah i hear good thing about the FLP's also. That is why i was gonna get those instead of the as&m's but then i did a little more searching. After reading a bunch of threads i realized that i hear just as many bad things about them as good things. Also i hear the customer service is horrible so if i had a problem they don't really help out at all. So for the price of there headers i decided not to go with them with all the problems they have.

I'm totally satified with my FLPs. I get raged on alot because I paid $1270 shipped for them. What they don't realized is you are buying a complete package. If you were to buy piece by piece parts from other manufacturer, it'll cost pretty much the same price. As for customer service, I don't know since I haven't had a reason to call them.
