Need Some advice.

I own a 94 z28 with 138,XXX Miles on it and I want to start modding the car. I atleast want to make 400Rwhp and trq. Any advice on how i can achieve my goal. This will be a daily driver until I am able to buy another Beater. I live in California so Smog laws are strict. So I need to keep it Smog legal. Thanks in advance!

Simple thing to start with would be heads/intake, like the lt4 setup. It's a little expensive, but without knowing where you want to go with your mods, the top end of the motor is an easy way to gain power right away.

definately don't do forced induction, turbos etc, or nitrous with the miles your motor has. go with what bjf said cold air intake, heads, headers, cat back exhaust, underdrive pullies, even make sure your fuel system is clean and effective to its fullest potential with seafoam addictive and such. after all that go for a bigger throttle body, intake manifold, also a lighter weight driveshaft. all depends on your wallet size too though but there's more u can do

Start off with an ignition upgrade (cap and rotor, coil, plugs and wires) due to your miles. Seafoam will work wonders for cleaning up the inside of the engine http://www.lt1engine.com/tech/how-to...arbon-buildup/.

Then a cold air intake and some headers and some sort of exhaust (cat back or true dual). If your car is a auto the best way to improve performance is a converter (2800 to 3600) and gears (3.73, 4.10) if manual just gears. I don't agree with underdrive pulleys and a new intake. The stock pulley system works fine and so does the stock intake. When and if you get heads have the intake done 2. Once you get your intake done get a 58mm throttle body. A cam is also a good upgrade and is possible with the engine in the car if done right. Don't forget a tune, if you mod to much without a tune the mods wont perform properly and your car will run like crap. Hope this gets you started and have fun.

Go with good set of headers 1 3/4 most come with a good y tube because your headers like mine go in to one cat the stock cat is good. cam try the hot cam this will pass smog . plus not hard of the gas it`s what I started with. Good Luck !
