New best on street tires

I'm not really impressed with the way the car is running, but i had a new street tire best a few nights ago. I still can't figure out what is wrong with the car. I put LT's on the car and have only gained 1mph from them, but I dyno really well. I think I maybe getting false knock from my passenger side LT sitting on the kmember and vibrating like crazy. It's really weird, I can trap 80 in the 1/8 and run 104 at the end and then I can go 83 in the 1/8 and still trap the same thing! The car is full weight minus the spare tire and jack and weighs 3680 with me in it. The run went as follows...

RT .053
60 2.215
330 5.900
1/8 8.881
mph 82.84
1/4 13.583
mph 104.7

I may pull the seats and delete the catback this friday and try again. I am sure that will get me a 106 trap speed and if I can get the 60' down a little more I may be able to hit some 13.3's on street tires.

I say work on things that will get that 60 ft down. Suspension and tires. You got the power now get it to the ground. Adding more power might just adding to the problem.

Throw on some DRs and call it a day. Those are still really good times though and once you chop that sixty foot down, you will really be flying.

looks like traction issue to me too. i run around 78mph at 8.8-9.0 depending on how the opti was acting and how bad the car would spin in second =/ 83 should be good for around an 8.6 if you can get the power down

I don't have headers myself, but a general diagnosis I hear on the boards when headers are hitting the k-member is you need new motor mounts.

and I'm also voting get some tires and then trouble shoot other stuff.

Re: New best on street tires

I am going to run ET streets this friday so I don't think that traction will be much of an issue this time. I am also going to drop 100lbs and try to fix my banging exhaust which I think is probably causing false knock and making me go so slow.

Re: New best on street tires

I am going to pull the seats out and take off the catback. I will post results when i get back from the track. I would like to hit 13.1's or better with this thing.

Re: New best on street tires

This may not be the issue but when was the last time you did a tune up? Plugs, wires, coil, coil wire, opti, air filter, fuel filter, thermostat. Is the car running warmer than normal? Any or all of these things can cause performance loss. Also, how long ago was it when you dyno'd the car and then ran that track time? If its a few months then maybe something needs changing. My $0.02

*EDIT*

My best time with mods in sig was 13.5 @ 106 mph. The 60' was around 2.1, I can't remember exactly.
