You would probably be better of with a service manual (Haynes, etc.) for a cam job.

For rebuilding the engine , this book everyone is speaking about would be best, BUT for a heads and cam install, a service manual would do better, since your are not going into the actual shortblock, as much. The service manual tells about other systems of the car such as external parts you will have to deal with when doing heads and cam.( Radiator, waterpump, sensors etc.) Service manuals cover the entire car, and when doing a cam you will have to remove alot of stuff that has to do with more than just the engine.

Doing the swap is not bad. BUT I would have someone who has done it before to help, if it's your first time.

Thumbs up

I just ordered one right now. I am planning on doing a rebuild this summer. This should help me with it.

I bought this book this evening at B&N. It has alot of pretty pictures and gives only general rebuild info. It does mention some part numbers for various things which is good. It's just nice to see a genII block in a rebuild book and is the main reason I bought it. That's about it. Good bathroom material but their are way better rebuild guides imo. It's has alot of curb appeal at first but after reading through it for about 30 mins it's like; do I really want to spend 20 bucks on this?? That was just my impression.

Well, maybe I have more money than sense, but I own the Helm (GM) set, Haynes and this LT1 book. I tend to refer more to this LT1 book, because of the greatly detailed photos and side bars. It does have TQ specs and may other "tips" and suggestions from an experienced engine builder not found in the boring GM manual. I would recommend getting a regular shop many for the specific steps to be taken on a cam install.
