New catback...

New catback...
I hate the way my tips look on my crappy exhaust, but its a waste to cut and replace the tips I think. But, I want to do a full exhaust, but I wasn't sure if it was worth my time to replace the exhaust now with a Hooker, Dynomax, or Magnaflow... then in like 4-5 months do the Long Tubes and Y pipe with hi-flow cat. Will it a pain in the *** then to do the LT's? Or should I wait and do everything at once?
Which exhaust you think I should go with? I want a deep powerful rumble that screams at wot!! I love a deep vibrant exhaust... but I hate drone!! I've narrowed it down to the three mentioned above... Hooker, Dynomax, or Magnaflow. I keep hearing Hooker is the way to go, but the Dynomax sounded SICK on my friends 3rd gen 303. Then the Magnaflow has to go and be Stainless which just makes things more difficult!!

Re: New catback...
Chris,
I finally got the chance to hear the Hooker cat-back on an otherwise stock LT1 Z28 the other day and damn, did it sound good! It was very quiet while idling (only a bit louder than the stock muffler), but it had a very deep and tough sounding rumble to it as the car took off from a stop and got on it a little. Not as loud as some other systems, but a very refined tone that was definitely noticeable...
I don't think you could go wrong with either it or the Magnalfow, but I personally like the Hooker exhaust better. Only thing is that neither one of these systems is loud at idle or cruise (but really open up in the mid to higher rpms).

Of course I'm very happy with my purchase -I feel my $280 went really far in getting such a great stainless steel system for so cheap. Of course I didn't feel there to be much choice. I wanted something sub $300, and Minnesota means I had to have stainless. that really limited the options.
But I'm VERY glad I didn't go with anything "louder".

Re: New catback...
Not gonna get a real answer, just opinions. Do a search on each system and you'll get back a ton of replies on that particular system.
I don't see why you'd have to wait til you got headers though...do the cat-back now, and when you get the time/money then finishe off the rest of it.
FWIW, I went with Magnaflow ($280 shipped) and the quality is very impressive.
Do a search on me & magnaflow for pics.
