New Intake Elbow...Pictures & Problems

So I decided to follow the trend of putting a new intake elbow on like many of you have.

I heard that Fernco makes a sewer pipe connecter that works real good and its only $6

Well I went to Lowes and they didnt have any Fernco ones but they did carry American Valve or something like that.

So I bought it, but after taking off the stock elbow and comparing, it looks like the AV one is a lot smaller inside...

I'm wondering if this will affect performance at all. I may just block off the opening of the stock one and call it good.

Here are some pics of what I mean

For the time being I would just plug the bottom of the stock one with a Pert+ lid. Save up and get a Trick Flow elbow or something, looks better and you know it will work right.

what you have there is nothing more than a restriction. the stock one will work better.

I would be worried about the end that needs to mate to the throttle body which is oval shaped compared to the circle shaped end on that tube.

You could probably pull a pic off of Summit or Jegs. The Trickflows are a good amount of money, around 80-90 bucks.

From reading, you just boil it or microwave it I think and then just form it to the way you want and give it a good stretch

And I'm not gonna pay $80 on something that wont give me any performance gains

I have a bunch of stuff under my hood wrapped in heat shield and stuff. Not too pretty. So I dont really need an expensive elbow to dress it up unless it has a function

The $6 Fernco, PN 1056-33 is used for the Ram Air cars. I haven't seen anyone use the piece you selected.

Fernco:

oh no , sry i though you were talking about switching to a new elbow like a trick flow. but deleting your silencer will not give you any noticeable gains.

I think you should return that thing to the store and use the stock elbow or get a 1LE elbow without the donkey dong attachment.
