new to the lt1 game

ok to start i just bought me a project car and in the process of building an engine for it right now. basically the question i have is what to expect from this top end combination.... edelbrock heads, a cc306 camshaft... 1.6 rockers.. full exhaust and so on.... i know you guys dont like the edlebrock heads but i work for an auto supplier and paid next to nuthing for these heads.. they have to be somewhat better than stock right?? anyways it will have a full exhaust and everything and i am wandering how well this combination will do.. will it make any power?? thanks

oh yeah the reason for the edelbrock heads purchase was after tearing this motor down i found that the stock heads were trashed and totally unrepairable.....

If you work for a supplier than I bet you have a hookup or buddy that does some porting. See if you can get a basic port job on them for cheap.

It should do fine. I really don't know much about those heads because we don't talk about them much. But even with stock heads I did 335 to the ground with a similar setup. Do some basic head work, make 350+ and beat on just about any cars you run into.

those heads are pretty much like a stock replacement, if your putting all that money into the car dont skimp on the heads, have them ported

Get the pcm flashed for the new mods... especially that 306 cam and it should be a strong runner.

For that much on the edlebrock heads get those trickflows. Like the other guy said, they have the exact same chamber, runner, and valve sizes.

Where in Texas do you live?

Not bashing, just saying, you could have got a used set of stock heads on here for $200-$250 and would have flowed the same.

If nothing else polish them up before you put them on. They have potential.

I believe I saw where Edelbrock recently started making their line of LT4 heads w/ 2.02 intakes and 1.59 exhaust valves. I wonder if anyone has a set of these heads yet, and how well they perform?

yeah i was looking at used heads and then decided on some good reman ones, then figured the cost of these wasnt to much more so i went with these.... i dont expect much of anything out of them, just figured they had to be somewhat better than stock

So, are you going with the Edelbrock LT-1 heads, or their new LT-4 heads? The LT-4s have to be the better of the two, however, I don't know how their LT-4s compare to other after-market heads (AFR, Etc.).

well we know what ups is for, but some people don't want to or can't wait as long as it takes to get them sent off and ported and sent back. and the heads that he got are the lt1 not lt4. with what he is wanting to do to the motor plus the spray, the heads should be alright for now and get him by till he builds the other motor to put in it
