New mechanical oil pressure gauge reads just above zero at idle.

New mechanical oil pressure gauge reads just above zero at idle.
I just installed a mechanical oil pressure gauge because I wanted to see if there was something wrong with the stock one. The mechanical gauge moves up and down with acceleration unlike the stock gauge that would never go past 20. After the car is warmed up and I'm sitting in traffic, the mechanical gauge needle is just above the peg at zero. I know pressure is supposed to be at 6 psi at 1000 rpm, but does mine sound too low? It looks like on the gauge that it is at about 1 or 2, but engine temps are fine.
I'm using mobil 1 10w-30

Unfortunatly, you have to believe it. Mechanical gauges dont lie, at least I wouldnt tend to believe that it would. Espically a new one. Try bumping the weight of your oil up a bit and see how it does. How many miles are on the engine? It may well be the motor is simply getting looser as it ages and it probably is reading right.

It has 75,500 miles on it. I don't doubt that the gauge is right, I was just curious if anyone else had similar readings. Pressure seems to be fine when I'm driving though. Guess I'll try 15w30 on the next oil change. Thanks for the reply.
