Newest trend in LT1 Tech.
It seems like every person that dynoed low, or ran not so good times have their rockers too tight It is the most common answear you see for having poor numbers.
How come no one was having those problems 2-3 years ago
I just find it quite funny with all these post about adjusting the valve lash etc
haha

Re: Newest trend in LT1 Tech.
Mebbe because more and more peeps are running the Comp 'R' lifters and any more than an 1/8 turn past zero is too much and will rob HP. Seen it first hand on my car.

No, people are Lemmings on here. All the different types of questions go through a cycle, and you'll see many different variations of the SAME question all on one page.

Re: Newest trend in LT1 Tech.
It always moves in trends around here. First we had the preload threads, those seemed to go on for months with new threads spinning off. Now we have the "power lost" threads.
I've run the Comp "R"s at anything from 1/8 turn to close to zero lash. Sometimes the car gains with less, sometimes it doesn't. So I prefer not to make blanket statements. I will say that I believe too many people base their engine tuning off of seat-of-the-pants, rather than track performance. Don't agree with that approach.

Re: Newest trend in LT1 Tech.
its just funny how everyone suggest that rockers are too tight when the numbers do not add up. "oh i ran 13.0 @ 107 but my rockers are too tight, so when i back them off i should be running mid 12s yada" or "I should gain around 10-20 hp cause i am running 1/2 preload instead of 1/8th"
Its quiet funny to me, hopefully this will go away soon and we can see more "help with my low rpm miss"

Oh come on... if you think this is bad, you should visit some honda boards.
"I just put Mobile 1 in my car today. WOOOOOWWWWWW what a difference it made!!!! The throttle response is now much crisper too."

Re: Newest trend in LT1 Tech.
yea i know what you're getting at.
take my normal tech board: thirdgen.org.
subject of brakes comes up and everyones jumping on the brake upgrades ( C4, C4HD, C5, LS1, willwood, AP, ect...)
then tubular K members come out... everyone is now getting a tubular k member to save 40lbs of weight off of a car whos stock k member weighs 35.2lbs
then i do a writeup on LCA angle... and people who didnt even know what relocation brackets were before i made a lil gif animation, are now giveing chassis setup advice.
they all just follow whatevers the popular "in" thing at the moment, and dont even know it.
