No oil pressure when idle
I just bought a 1994 Z28 with 27000 miles on the engine. I drove from Florida to Arkansas and it ran like a top. The oil pressure was around 30psi.
Problem: I changed the oil today and went with 10-30 synthetic Castor. When I started the engine, the pressure went up to around 50 psi. After let sit idle for 5 or so minutes, the pressure continuied to drop to almost ZERO. When I tap the gas, the pressure goes back to 20 instantly. When I let it sit idle for 5 minutes, the guage goies back to ZERO and the Warning light saying "CHECK GUAGES" comes on. When driving down the road the oil pressure runs between 20-30psi. The engine is leaking no oil whatsoever. What's up with this? Please help if you can. I am not a mechanic so I can't answer a lot of the technical questions.
Thanks in adavance.

I live in Pine Bluff, not proud of it, but my house is paid off. That leaves me a little more money in my pocket to leave here on the weekend.HAHA
The engine still runs fine, the pressure is just unbareable to me. It makes me think something is seriously wrong. I will try and get a new oil sending unit tomorrow and see what happens. This is the first time this car has had synthetic in it. Do you think that is the problem or what?

im betting on the sending unit also. I took 3 days off of work trying to replace my pump after my gauge dropped to 0 one night. I fought it on the ground, in the rain, by myself, with no hoist, jacking the motor up with a floor jack and 2x4s. After all that, it was the sender
