No start situation - need scan tool and advice

Hello All,

I bought a 96 Camaro Z28 with a rebuilt engine which has yet to run. It sat for a year in a garage. It has open headers with the O2 sensor installed. I checked the ECM, Coil, fuses. The fuel pump was bad, I replaced that and the filter. I removed the old gas and added fresh with some PRI G.

The engine has a GM Hotcam, some porting work in the heads but otherwise just balanced and blueprinted.

Where can I get a cable to connect my computer so I can scan for codes? I was hoping to get it as quickly as possible (not mail order). And which program do you suggest?

Since it sat for so long, do you think the injectors being plugged is worth my time to try as a guess? What is the best way to clean them?

Thank you and forgive the newb questions. I have spent hours on the site and searching.

Dave

here is a link with some options. I use the ecm proscan and have the jet dst for flashing. TunerCat Links . The lt1pcm tuning has other links and info that may be helpful. As for injectors you can mail them off and get them fully checked out and serviced and cleaned and it may be worth it(they also flow test and check for spray pattern). A google search would get you a couple of options. I will grab you another link or two that may help you(if you dont already know of shbox.com). Posted from Camaroz28.com App for Android

Re: No start situation - need scan tool and advice

Thanks Slick. I was hoping I could clean them myself but it does sound like sending them out has some great benefits.
