Now on hour 8 of water pump install
First we cant get to the drain plugs on the back of the block, cant get our hands into what we think the plugs are..
We got all the hoses off, and had a nice bath in coolant
We got 5 of the bolts out of the water pump but the 6th one towards the back of the pump...theres no possible way to get to it.
We took off what we think is the AIR pump but that did absolutely nothing to help
the optispark is soaking wet on top of that
Can someone help us out?
The haynes manual is pretty much worthless
Removing water pump
Step 1) Remove Water pump
Install
reverse of step 1.

They got everything off and just had some concerns about somethings, but everything sounded fine.
If you have anymore questions or would like me to come by and help out just call me back and let me know.

What plugs? Back of block what are you doing there?
We got all the hoses off, and had a nice bath in coolant
What did you think was in there?

Calm down, we've all done it, there is definately a way
We took off what we think is the AIR pump but that did absolutely nothing to help
If you dont have emissions throw that part away along with all the worthless tubing it uses
the optispark is soaking wet on top of that
Towel

I know I had the pressed fit tubes for the heater hoses on mine come out when I was driving and I had to put in the new water pump in a coffee shop parking lot, in the dark, and without a full tool box, it was a pain in the ***(I didn't have the cash for a tow truck)- and hayne's manuals blow. My favorite phrase is " due to the complexity of ________ it is best left to professionals, and will not be covered in this manual" haha. Which bolt are you having a hard time getting to? The one all the way to the left behind the pulleys or the one to the right? I pulled the air pump and used a swivel and short extension for the right, and I monkeyed around with the left one for 10 minutes before I could get it in. Make damn sure the air pump hoses are all in good condition and connected, though.. One of mine led to my opti and it was cracked..
