Damn!

I didn't know it was that complicated.

So you're saying if you extend the wiring harness of the vehicle the right way, then it is fine, but not to dork with the wires coming off of the O2 sensor itself?

Just seemed a lot cheaper to just solder extend them.

BTW, I'm Military Communications/Electronics, I'm qualified to do "military quality soldering"

I'll do a search here shortly, but if anyone knows off hand what size extensions I would need on a '97 and Jet Hot LT's, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

I've got the Hooker LTs...

the easiest way is what I did... start with ~ 2' of wire, get the car side all soldered together.. then install the 02s in the headers, and see how long you really need them and how you're going to route the wires...

Then cut them to length and solder the connector back on...

Then just heat shink, sheeth if you want, and route, then connect.. then you're done...

It's hard enough to figure out if the O2s are actually working as they should anyway, so why add to any uncertainty if you don't have to?
True. But, since I've had them on my car for several years now and no obvious problems (Diacom runs appear the same) it's kinda hard for me to get too excited knowing that I screwed up and didn't even know it. Good points though and before I snip another O2 sensor wire in the future, I'll think about this thread and maybe do the more difficult harness instead

My harness shouldn't be too difficult to do...if only I could remember which wire was for the O2's

4-wire plug... either connected to, or next to the starter wires... Atleast for the PS... the DS in that harness... *shrugs* LOL

I'm assuming this is for the '97

It's all time and money. If I could extend them in less
than an hour, and have it be of the same quality of
a professionally made extension, I would. Unfortunately,
I can't work that fast and would need the connectors,
specialty tools, etc. Survey says---------> Buy Them

Sorry, I have another post about this but no response, and I need to do something. I need to replace the drivers side O2 because it is bent upward due to lack of wire length. Well, I'm getting an extention as well as a new O2 sensor. Question is, I have a Bosch on the pass. side, could I put a new AC Delco on the drivers side? Does it matter if I have two diff. brands of O2's on each side?
Thanks

I broke down and bought them.

But, I can kind of think of getting them as free, since I got the Thunder Racing double-online discount. $1011, got me $80 off.
