o2 sensor wiring

o2 sensor wiring
on the passenger side i burnt my plastic connector and now im in the process of soldering in my extension. I have a caspers o2 extension for a 97. Anyhow i was reading on here and they said to match the colors up. But when i look at my drivers side, it shows purple from the car wiring going in the same connector as the black wire on the extension side. Without going on about the colors, will i need to match the colors up or follow how my drivers side shows them? My drivers side is fine no problems wasnt burnt so i just conencted them.

heres how i have my wires tied up ready to be solderd , this is the passenger side. Any why does the drivers side differ from the passenger side color wise?

red - Black
purple - purple
tan - Green
black - Blue

so i just compaired my drivers side to the passenger side, none of the colors lay out the same way. So how the hell can i fix my problem because i cant go off my crimped connector its toaster so ive got no way to tell now what wire needs to go where? Or will i be able to match the colors when i get the o2 sensors tomorrw, plug the sensor in the extension and follow the colors up iffff the o2 sensor uses the same 4 colors as my wiring harness. Im sorry this is hard explain and probably hard to understand. And im mad like usual.

found this and look at it for a second , the 2 brown wires shouldnt matter if their crossed right? So all i would need to do is get the sensors, and follow each color up the extension and find the same corresponding color on the wiring harness side right?

Wire it up by the connector position (A, B, C, D) instead of the wire colors on the extension cable. You are correct in stating that the heater wires can be reversed with no problems. Just make sure you get the purple and tan wires (sensor wires) in the correct location.

i got my delphi sensors and i just followed the start of the o2 sensors purple wire up through whatever color was on the extension back to the purple and like wise for the others. So i assume i did this correctly. Is there any way of telling if the o2s are functioning properly? I have lt1 edit am i able to read codes and see if im getting any o2 sensor codes? Or will i need some autotap or something similar? Thanks blitzer

I don't use LT1 edit so I'm not sure if it can record O2 sensor readings. The voltage on the purple wire should be between 100mV to 900mV with respect to ground and constantly switching from low voltage to high voltage when the engine is operating in closed loop. If you don't have it hooked up right you should get an O2 error code which LT1 edit can read.

i dontknow how to read my trouble codes? But i got everything wired up and ran the wires the best i could. Now all ive got is headers with a 2 1/2 reducer with o2 bungs. So i started it up open headers with the sensors and its funky and the rpms even when warming up dont go below 1k? But anyhow can this be from just being open headers ive got an x pipe ill toss on tomorrow but im tryin to figure out why its actin like this. Hasnt had them in over 4 years maybe its "learning" again lol
