OBD-I to OBD-II?

Searched but couldn't find anything really.

I've got an early 95 LT1 in my 96 RS. But in order to get it smogged here in California it has to be OBD-II.

If I get a 96 LT1 computer and knock sensor, is that all I'll need? I'll only need it to run for about a mile to the smog test place and back

The computer I've got in there is working perfectly fine, but it's an OBD-I.

Thanks in advance

Re: OBD-I to OBD-II?

OBDII cars come with a crank position sensor for misfire detection, and also post cats oxygen sensors.

Re: OBD-I to OBD-II?

here's what I would do. Get the OBDI II and hook it up, and get it programmed to eliminate all codes that will be thrown(eg post cat 02's, knock sensor, etc). You could even program out that misfire detection. THis is something maybe you could contact one of the tuners about, maybe madwolf can help?

Re: OBD-I to OBD-II?

Is it just smog that you need to pass or also the scan test?

Unfortunately, scan test too.. I dunno if deleting the CPS and extra knock sensor, o2's, etc.. would pass the ready/not ready test. Ion, can that be done?

Re: OBD-I to OBD-II?

I have heard turning off the DTCs will not actually pass the scan test but I cant varify this.
