OBD I or OBD II?

How do you tell whether the car is OBD I or OBD II? I just bought a new car (first newer car), and i do not know if it is OBD I or OBD II? If anyone knows, please respond. Thanks for any help.

Re: OBD I or OBD II?

It would help if you said what year and car it is. If it is a 1995 LT1 f-body, it's OBD-I. Look at the emissions label under the hood.

Assuming it's the 95, you're sure to find an OBD-II connector under the dash, but it's still got an OBD-I computer.

Yes it is a 95 and it has the OBD II connector but if it has an OBD I computer then i need to go through the sniff test for emissions?

Re: OBD I or OBD II?

No. 96 an newer is required to be hooked up to a computer for inspection. 95 and older is visual only. That goes for any car or truck.
