OBD I swap question

Just courious how those of you with OBD I swaps scan your cars. Since a OBD I scanner won't plug into an OBD II port and an OBD II scanner won't scan an OBD I PCM. The reason I ask is because I recently swapped the dash in my 94 to a dash from a 97 and it now has an OBD II diagnostic port. I guess I could just swap over to the OBD I port.

Re: OBD I swap question

You basically set it up like a 95 which had OBD1 computer and OBD2 port. You will need an OBD2 cable and can use a laptop with freescan or datamaster. You could also get a scanner that reads both if you want. They usually come with multiple cables.

I've got an Auto Xray scanner with multiple cables but haven't tried it yet. I know the 95 cars had an OBD II port but it was pinned differently.
