Angry Oh Crap!!!!! %^$%&$^

hi there guys,

i was driving around today with my new rims and running some arrons when i went to the local car wash. i washed the car like i normally do and when i was washing my tail lights off.. i noticed that my exhaust tips had green fluid in them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i just bought a new exhaust and i think that they put some grease inside the tips to make sure they dont rust... i dont see white smoke and i was told my engine had great compression!!!

i just installed the LT4 hotcam kit...headers..and a hooker exhaust, my car has 112,xxx miles on it and i havent noticed any drop in my coolant level. car runs cool ?????

what do you think, i was spraying water on the tips... but what about the color?

Have you swapped over to standard anitfreeze (green)? If so, you have cooling getting into the combustion chamber-check the heads

check your coolant level, check your oil and your oil pressure. watch your temp gauge also. if all of the above look good, i think you're in the clear.

94 GM cars came with the green anti-freeze and my temp is great. just like it was before the cam... oil pressure is 40 at crusing and 5 at idle in gear. oil looks clean.... coolant looks clean.

i hope it not my head gaskets... i' just said i wasn't gonna do anymore to this car...and here i'm looking at head gaskets!!!!

what else besides the exhaust (water drop lets) tells that your head g is bad?

May be too simple, but the tire cleaner at our carwash is the same color as gerrn antifreeze.

Have you checked under your valve covers? I pulled my covers only to find the white milky horror of water in the oil. Also, I never noticed white smoke from the exhaust but I started my car one morning and in stoped spinning over like it seized up. Got it started and then it ran real hot and started to miss. I let it sit to cool of so I could attempt to drive it home. Started fine, ran cool but still ran like it had a BAD miss. Pulled the covers and vwalla. Pulled the heads and had a verry verry verry small leak into the #4 combustion chamber. While I hope that it is wheel cleaner I also assume that you're washing the car at a self wash place, and you would know if the tire cleaner is green. Also, have you called the exhaust shop that did the install?

Can't imagine how a head gasket coolant leak could make it to the exhaust tips as a LIQUID - think about it, if it's a head gasket leak, it's gonna flash off into steam in the combustion chamber, the exhaust manifold (headers), the cat or the hot pipes. I've seen guys with a leak so bad it caused no fire in 1 or 2 cylinders, but there was still enough heat in the engine & exhaust to flash the coolant into steam by the time it got to the back!
My vote is with Joe, your looking at some detergent. Did you wash it yourself or was it a drive thru? Dont stress man, good compression, coolant not going down & no milky oil on dipstick or inside oil filler cap = no problem!
